Margaret Lorraine Crovatt Street
SAVANNAH - Margaret Lorraine Crovatt Street, 81, passed away in her home on Monday, May 4, 2009.
She was born in Savannah and graduated from Savannah High School and Armstrong Junior College, and attended University of Georgia. She worked as a medical lab assistant at Emory Hospital in Atlanta and for several local Savannah physicians in addition to being a part-time teacher. As a lifelong learner, she was an avid reader. As an accomplished artist, she was a prolific painter, weaver, knitter and spinner. Throughout her years, she maintained a friendship with a close circle of school year friends known as the "Flamingoes." She was a devoted wife and wonderful mother.
Married for more than 52 years, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Wayne Street, Jr. She is survived by three sons – Mark Wayne Street of Atlanta, Lawrence Jay Street of Woodstock, and Stanley Marshall Street of Oliver – her brother, Lawrence Crovatt of Pensacola, and sister, Ann Streif of Savannah, a daughter-in-law, three grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was an active member of Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, Savannah Weavers Guild, and the Islands Art Association.

Visitation will be at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel on Thursday, May 7 from 7 to 9 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 8 at 11:00 AM at the Isle of Hope United Methodist Church with burial following at Bonaventure Cemetery.
My dearest Street men, I will continue my prayers for all of you. Lorraine was one of the sweetest people I have ever known and I will miss her very much. My love to all of you.
